Dr. Brown has conducted thousands of forensic evaluations and rendered expert witness deposition or court testimony more than 80 times in civil and criminal cases for over 20 years. Dr. Brown testifies on a range of psychiatric issues that arise in litigation, which include but are not limited to testamentary/estate administration disputes, undue influence, fraud, elder abuse, personal injury and mental competency. Dr. Brown has conducted more than 10,000 forensic assessments, including civil commitment evaluations conducted for Clark County.

Dr. Brown is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the fields of Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Brown is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine and Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Las Vegas. Dr. Brown’s clinical practice is based in the greater Las Vegas area, though he conducts his forensic practice where he is needed.

In addition to busy forensic and clinical practices, Dr. Brown pursues interests and training in models of psychotherapy and the mind to hypnosis, meditation, and concepts of creativity. Dr. Brown completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Rochester before becoming Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Brown attended medical school at the University of Arkansas and residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He obtained his BA in psychology at Oberlin College where his interests grew into a desire to become a physician and practice psychiatry.

Dr. Lawrence Amsel provides psychiatric evaluations and consultations in both criminal and civil (plaintiff and defense) cases.

Dr. Amsel has been practicing psychiatry, and public health psychiatry for 25 years, as well as doing academic research and teaching in psychiatry at Columbia University. He co-directed the Trauma Studies and Services division at Columbia University, where he was involved in treating victims of 9/11 and their families, in training community clinicians in cutting edge treatments for PTSD and in similar work with Complicated (Traumatic) Grief. Dr. Amsel has also been involved in nationally recognized training program for Pediatricians and Adolescent Health Clinicians in dealing with mental health issues in their practice.
